Lin An Lan has lost his memory, but luckily, his boyfriend doesn’t mind and still treats him with tenderness, pampering him, and doting on him.

Lin An Lan was relieved until one day he found a photo album in the house where he lived together, full of single photos of him, from his student days to his current status as a popular celebrity.

On the back of the last photo, written in black neutral pen – I want him.

* Cheng Yu has liked Lin An Lan and has done so for eight years. He wants him, but is afraid to make a rash move.

*
Until that day, when he heard someone knocking on the door as the wind and rain hit his window. He went out and saw that Lin An Lan’s clothes were soaked through, his ink-like hair was soaked with moisture, which made his lips look even more delicate, like a rose in the dark night.

“Do I stay here?” He asked.

Cheng Yu didn’t speak.

Lin An Lan frowned, looking both puzzled and innocent: “Sorry, I can’t remember some things. May I ask, are you my boyfriend? Do I live here?”

Cheng Yu was shocked in his heart, but he smiled slightly as he reached out and led Lin An Lan inside, his tone gentle, as if they were a real pair of lovers.

“Yes.” He said, “You’re back too late, wife.”

I love you the most in the whole world, past, present and future.

This novel caught me off guard due to its unique approach compared to others with a similar theme. Typically, in such stories, the male lead (ML) deceives the female lead (MC) with unimportant lies that cause complications later. However, in this instance:

The main lie – that they've been dating for a week – is overshadowed by the ML's honesty about their past. Cheng Yu, the ML, clearly explains to Lin AnLan that they weren't close because her best friend disapproved of him, so he respected her wishes and stayed away. Despite being the one chasing after Lin AnLan, he admits to doing so against advice. This sincerity earns Cheng Yu empathy from Lin AnLan, who feels she should apologize for her earlier harsh treatment.

As for the intimate scene, contrary to expectations based on reviews, it unfolds unexpectedly. During a movie, a scene appears, and Lin AnLan questions Cheng Yu about prior experiences, which he denies. Despite Lin AnLan's persistence, Cheng Yu respectfully declines, citing fear that Lin AnLan might regret it once her memory returns. To ease concerns, Lin AnLan suggests going back to her own place, allowing Cheng Yu to act freely. Initially alarmed, Cheng Yu eventually convinces her to stay, and they engage in the intimate act upon Lin AnLan's second request.

It's important to note that the ML isn't emotionally stable, always prioritizing the MC's well-being, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness. The story is tagged as "obsessive love," which can be both heart-wrenching and pitiful to read. Lin AnLan's memory loss has changed his perspective, as he now loves Cheng Yu despite not having negative feelings towards him before. While his agent warns of potential regrets, Lin AnLan remains content with his actions in the present.

The future of the story is uncertain, but I'm eagerly anticipating the next chapters. I genuinely admire the characters and their complex relationship.

I rate the book 4 out of 5 stars due to an annoying habit the author has of weaving in lengthy, fictional narratives within the main storyline. These detours often involve detailed descriptions of a movie or drama the protagonists are involved in, or even a fanfiction written by the protagonist. While I can appreciate occasional references that contribute to character development or plot progression, like in "The Star Around The Sun," the majority of these "fictional" stories take center stage, reducing the main plot to a supporting role.

If the author focused solely on their exceptional comedic, lighthearted, and imaginative situations without these distractions, their novels would undoubtedly shine even brighter. The main love interest's character, unfortunately, comes across as insecure and fearful, tugging at the reader's heartstrings. Overall, while there are redeeming qualities, the excessive use of these fictional elements prevents me from giving the book a full five-star rating.

The character Cheng Yu (ML) is quite heartbreaking, and each chapter tugs at my emotions, making me want to cry. Despite the fluffy and sweet interactions, there's a lingering sense of sadness, especially during the flashback where Cheng Yu reminisces about being overlooked by Lin An Lan.

Cheng Yu, my dear, you're amazing and deserve all the love and kindness. Don't be so humble and pessimistic; it breaks my heart. However, the revelation that Lin An Lan discovers Cheng Yu isn't his boyfriend wasn't entirely unexpected, but it still hits hard, especially when seeing Cheng Yu's despair.

The plot resolves rather swiftly, which might be due to the protagonist's strong moral compass and rational thinking, allowing them to address issues efficiently. ML is truly commendable; he has loved Cheng Yu for eight years and treats them gently, always telling the truth and defending Jiang Xu, even when it's difficult.

During Cheng Yu's amnesia, ML is considerate and caring, avoiding actions that could upset Cheng Yu. The love between them grows, but it's not Stockholm Syndrome – it's genuine. It's refreshing to see a character like Cheng Yu with a balanced perspective and positive outlook.

ML experiences jealousy, envy, and sadness when Cheng Yu distances themselves, but he never places blame. His emotional intelligence and intellect are impressive. Even though he knows Cheng Yu's heart belongs to Jiang Xu, he never pushes or harasses, respecting their bond.

The biggest mistake ML makes is lying about their relationship, but his intentions are pure. If Cheng Yu didn't allow it, he wouldn't pursue physical contact. Yet, he remains understanding and stays friends, keeping his distance. When everything is resolved, and they become official, the sweetness returns with a happier and cuter ML.

The story then focuses on their love story, with family dynamics and conflicts being resolved easily. Here's a summary of the key parts:

    1. Fluffy and tender moments, with ML's hidden distress.
    2. A heartwarming truth revealed and resolved, followed by temporary separation and ML's struggle.
    3. More fluff and sweetness, including the happiest moments with ML.

Overall, the story is a delightful read, with the exception of the truth's reveal. I highly recommend it.

The characters are so vividly portrayed, particularly Cheng Yu. Despite his deep infatuation, he still maintains a level of理智, which, based on my own experience, is quite remarkable. I've had a 10-year-long love that ended with me breaking things off, knowing the real world would inevitably intervene. It's like a persistent ache, dormant most of the time but resurfacing with a mix of sadness and sweetness. I find myself relating to Cheng Yu's situation; I'm unsure why I can love someone in such a way, given their engagement to another. Reading about their actions, I empathize completely, even though it's an unhealthy, isolating, and painful emotion. I've come to accept that there's no escape from it.

I also appreciate Xie Hui's unexpected visit to Lin An Lan, mentioning Cheng Yu's illness - it added an intriguing twist to the story.

It's probably around a 3.5-star rating for me. The reason being, I find the plot slightly乏味 as the story progresses. The mystery surrounding Lin An Lan's amnesia initially piques my interest and keeps me reading, particularly because I'm eager to揭露 Cheng Yu's hidden truths. I must admit, the early chapters' romantic scenes were quite enchanting and evoked a warm feeling within me. Perhaps you could consider adding a "Early Romance" tag?

However, there are numerous insignificant details that the author tends to include, like dwelling excessively on the drama the main characters starred in. These distractions often lead me to skim through chapters. My main focus is on Lin An Lan's memory recovery, which brings me to the spoiler:

    Spoilers ahead:
He regains his memory in Chapter 100. Skipping straight to that chapter didn't seem to miss out on any crucial plot points.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting the story to be so slow and filled with filler content. Although the main character (ML) is exactly the type I usually enjoy, being incredibly protective and devoted to his partner, I couldn't find much enjoyment in this novel. After reading 20 chapters, it felt repetitive, and I don't have the patience to endure the drawn-out pace.

The fact that the ML constantly doubts the MC's amnesia and accepts her manipulations doesn't resonate with me either. It raises the question – what exactly draws you to her? The author's habit of incorporating fictional within the story, which isn't my cup of tea, further contributed to my dissatisfaction.

In conclusion, I think this book might not be the right fit for my preferences.

Well, I believe Lin AnLan has a significant personality issue. Treating others poorly just because you didn't grow up together is utterly absurd! He dislikes being deceived and manipulated, but Jiang Xu's previous request to ignore Cheng Yu wasn't exactly that; their close bond from childhood explains his tolerance at that time. It's concerning how he accepts Jiang Xu's flawed character without questioning whether it's right to follow him. This isn't independence, but rather codependency, avoiding conflict to keep friendships, which is detrimental. He certainly has problems stemming from his mother's abandonment, but that doesn't justify mistreating others. I genuinely feel Cheng Yu deserves better. He too isn't in a good place, getting entangled with Lin AnLan isn't healthy. He should seek professional help to overcome those toxic feelings, as enduring such pain for love isn't normal – love should bring joy, not suffering. If I were Cheng Yu, I'd prioritize self-improvement and move on without Lin AnLan – someone who prefers pleasing others over personal growth. Why bother waking him up from this cycle?
